99th FOCA National Convention Welcome Letter
/Dear FOCA Members, Fellowship Friends, and Supporters,
Nearly a century ago, our beloved Archangel Michael pastor of 37 years, the Rt. Rev. Fr. Vladimir Prislopsky of blessed memory, together with several colleagues, founded the Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs (FROC) - today known as the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America (FOCA). With remarkable vision, he recognized the need for a strong lay organization to promote Orthodoxy, unite Orthodox Christians across parishes, and reflect the full breadth of Orthodoxy in America.
Although Fr. Vladimir founded the FROC/FOCA while serving as a choir director in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, he was instrumental in growing and strengthening the organization during his years of pastoral service in Cleveland, Ohio. It is therefore especially meaningful that Cleveland will host the 99th FOCA National Convention, the final convention before our historic centennial celebration.
As we stand just one year away from our 100th anniversary, the Cleveland Chapter looks forward to welcoming you to a memorable gathering at Woodside Event Center at St. Michael’s. Members, former members, guests, and friends are invited to join us July 24-27, 2026, as we gather under the theme One Faith • One Fellowship.
The weekend begins Friday evening at the iconic Archangel Michael “Shanty,” renowned for its warm hospitality and lively spirit. Saturday will feature convention sessions throughout the day, offering opportunities for fellowship, discussion, and the important work of our organization. At the same time, children will enjoy a special camping-themed program inspired by St. Vladimir’s Camp in the Woodside gymnasium, led by Fr. Dn. Daniel and Matushka Catrina Kovalak, St. Vladimir’s Camp administrators. Saturday evening will conclude with a group social event, with details to follow.
On Sunday, we will celebrate Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel, and other clergy. The weekend culminates Sunday evening with a festive Convention Banquet, honoring 99 years of FOCA’s rich history while looking ahead with anticipation to our centennial year. Sessions will conclude Monday morning.
Accommodations have been reserved in Independence, Ohio at the Holiday Inn Cleveland South by IHG (216-524-8050) and the neighboring SpringHill Suites by Marriott (216-264-4190). Located side by side, both offer swimming pools, and are just two exits north on I-77 from the Woodside Event Center. An ad book is in preparation, and additional details will be shared soon. Please also see the “Things to Do in the Greater Cleveland Area” for those who may wish to extend their stay and explore all that our region has to offer.
Cleveland has hosted many memorable conventions throughout FOCA’s 99-year history, and we believe this gathering will be among the most meaningful. Whether you are a longtime member, someone wishing to reconnect after time away, or discovering the FOCA for the first time, this is the year to “come and see!”
Convention details will be updated regularly at orthodoxfellowship.org. We look forward to welcoming you to Cleveland.
In Christ,
