South River "R" Club Hosts Inaugural Anthony Schultz Memorial FOCA Golf Tournament in Ohio

The inaugural Anthony Schultz memorial golf tournament, sponsored by the South River “R” Club, was played on two different courses in the Youngstown, Ohio area on August 21 and 22, 2026: the Yankee Run Golf Course and the Pine Lakes Golf Club. Michael Steffaro, past national president, was chair of the event. At the recent 99th national FOCA convention in Cleveland, delegates unanimously decided to rename the national summer sports tourney in memory and honor of Anthony Schultz, who was a longtime national sports director and avid golfer.

Among those participating were Michael Schultz, Anthony’s twin brother and Journal publisher; brother Deacon Dr. John Schultz, past national president and current Pittsburgh District Governor, and his son Johnnie Schultz. Clergy golfers included Father John R. Steffaro, past national spiritual advisor; Fathers Andrew Nelko and Andrew Nelko Jr.; and Father John Kotalik. IPP Basil Kochan substituted for National Spiritual Advisor Nicholas Wyslutsky who was on the IL. National FOCA President Nick Ressetar (who has retired from golf out of respect for the game) attended the awards dinner and greeted the golfers. A torrential rainstorm around 3 p.m. Saturday ended the round early. The prize winners are attached. Next year’s tourney will be sponsored by the Weirton “O” Club with the dates and location(s) to be announced.

Additional golfers were: Bob Markvan; Aaron Markvan; Bob Schenken; David Schenken; Kiprian Yarosh; Mark Marton; Steven Dranow; Robert Willison; Nathaniel Willison; Kevin Rudolph; David Stockman; Andrew Petty; Bill Nelko; Theresa & Bob Stotler; Melanie Rusnak; David Badger; Joe Clark; George Gresko; Andrew Gresko; Greg Pawluk; Jerry Turjanica; and Joe Lear. Thank you to all the golfers, hole sponsors and attendees who supported this special Fellowship sporting event and memory eternal to our brother-in-Christ Anthony!
